The Daily Life at the Royal Table 1862-1910

2025 Event

A new exhibition dedicated to the Daily Life at the Royal Table has been inaugurated at the Ajuda National Palace (Lisbon). This unique journey into the domestic universe of the Portuguese court in the second half of the 19th century unveils the workspaces where objects used, and washed and people that discreetly sustained the daily life of the palace, which coexisted with etiquette and luxury. Archeofactu's participation in the project involved the conservation and restoration of a collection of objects on display, namely:

  • Fireplace utensils: bellows (2), tongs, brush, firebrand, grate, support, coal box, fire screen, tray and shovel.
  • Kitchen utensils: baskets (2), molds (57), chocolate pot.
  • Furniture/lighting: tea table, lamps (2), chandelier, small chandeliers (6),
  • Miscellaneous: desk calendar, faucets (2), locks
  • Equipment: boiler
